In Antwerpen where I lived, there is one of the biggest Orthodox communities outside Israel so I believe it would be better there, but still.

when my Dad went to Brussels, he was told not to wear his kippah walking to shul because people might throw things at him.

I never encountered anti semitism in Brussels and most of my friends are part of the Arabic community.
