Jewish/Israeli symbols should be kept to a minimum
In the past year, there have been no reported antisemitic incidents or hostility toward Israelis or Jews in Pushkar, India. Notably, in October 2023, a Pushkar-based individual, Sumit Sharma (known as 'Kalu Baba'), served Rajasthani vegetarian meals to Israeli soldiers in Israel, demonstrating solidarity. However, in January 2026, two British nationals were expelled from India for pasting political stickers in Pushkar, including messages such as 'Free Palestine' and 'Boycott Israel'. This incident led to heightened awareness among Israeli travelers to exercise caution and avoid displaying symbols that could attract unwanted attention. The Israeli government's travel advisory for India indicates a high threat level (Level 4) for regions such as Kashmir, due to terrorism threats, while other areas, including Pushkar, are under a moderate threat level (Level 2)....
