In July 2026, six Israeli tourists were attacked at a campsite in northern Mongolia by a group of men of Kazakh Muslim origin. The assailants, armed with knives and hatchets, shouted "Heil Hitler" and "Get out of here." One Israeli sustained a broken jaw and was flown back to Israel for medical treatment, and the group was evacuated from the country with assistance from the Israeli Embassy in China. Mongolian authorities condemned the attack and offered the Israelis the option to file a police complaint, which they declined. Israel and Mongolia maintain friendly diplomatic relations and the Israeli government's travel advisory for Mongolia remains "safe to travel," but given the severity of this violent, explicitly antisemitic attack Jewish and Israeli travelers should exercise increased caution, particularly outside urban centres....
