Uruguay has experienced a number of antisemitic incidents over the past year, including a vandalism attack on the B'nai B'rith Uruguay headquarters in Montevideo, which the Jewish community condemned and which prompted calls for a public response from authorities, and an earlier attack on Jewish teenagers in Montevideo. The National Human Rights Institution (INDDHH) has established a working group on reported antisemitism involving public agencies, academia and civil society. Diplomatic relations between Uruguay and Israel remain strong, and the Israeli government maintains a 'safe to travel' status advising normal precautions, but given the recent incidents Jewish and Israeli travelers should remain vigilant....
