Jewish/Israeli symbols should be kept to a minimum
On September 20–21, a political activist covered the Rua Estado de Israel street sign in São Paulo’s Higienópolis neighborhood with a “Free Palestine, from the river to the sea” sticker, during Yom Kippur. Jewish community representatives and local politicians filed complaints and requested an investigation into possible discrimination; the activist disputed that interpretation. No physical violence against Jews was reported in São Paulo during the period reviewed. Travelers should avoid political demonstrations and check local conditions around community events....
