On September 14, a physical confrontation occurred at Vilnius’s Choral Synagogue amid restrictions on visitor access; the rabbi, a visitor and a security guard each reported being assaulted, and the circumstances were under review. The incident was not reported as an antisemitic attack. In July 2026, a man spat on three Israeli rabbis in Vilnius and posted a video encouraging similar acts; he was detained and released pending trial. A separate dispute over possible development at Vilnius’s historic Šnipiškės Jewish Cemetery has drawn international Jewish concern, while Lithuanian officials have discussed protecting the site and implementing an action plan against antisemitism.
