In the past year, Antwerp has experienced several antisemitic incidents, including a synagogue explosion in Liège in March 2026 that authorities are investigating as a possible act of terrorism, and verbal harassment in Antwerp in August 2026. The Belgian government responded with 'Operation Green Shield' in March 2026, deploying the army to protect Jewish institutions. Despite these measures, the Jewish community remains the most frequently targeted group for extremist threats in Belgium, according to a 2025 government report. Given the Israeli government's travel advisory of 'Occasional Threat' for Belgium, travelers should exercise caution....
