Stay alert, keep symbols hidden, don’t identify as Jewish or Israeli
No antisemitic incidents or hostility toward Jews or Israelis have been reported in Haiti over the past year, and Haiti maintains relations with Israel through an honorary consulate in Port-au-Prince. Haiti is nonetheless not a safe destination. Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Israelis to consider postponing travel following a sharp escalation in gang violence and a severe deterioration in internal security, and notes that Israel has no diplomatic mission in the country, so consular assistance must be sought from the Israeli consuls in the Dominican Republic or Panama. A national state of emergency has been in force since March 2024, kidnapping for ransom is widespread, armed gangs control much of Port-au-Prince, and commercial flights to the capital remain suspended. The danger comes from violent crime and the collapse of law enforcement rather than from antisemitism, but it applies to Jewish and Israeli travelers exactly as it does to everyone else....
