In November 2025, a mentally unstable individual set fire to the historic Sadigura synagogue in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, causing significant damage. The suspect had previously attempted to set fire to a local church, indicating a pattern of disturbed behavior rather than targeted antisemitism. Local Jewish leaders emphasized that the community does not perceive rising antisemitism in the city. As of September 2026, there have been no reported antisemitic incidents in Chernivtsi. The Israeli government's travel advisory for Ukraine remains at "be cautious when traveling," reflecting a general caution due to the ongoing conflict in the region....
