Jewish/Israeli symbols should be kept to a minimum
In August 2026, the OY/YO sculpture at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History was vandalized with hateful graffiti — the second such incident within a year, following similar vandalism in August 2025. The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission condemned the attack and emphasized the need for vigilance and solidarity against such acts. Separately, the Alexander Grass Campus for Jewish Life in Harrisburg, purchased in 2022, has faced financial difficulties leading to staff layoffs and plans for sale, raising concerns about the future of Jewish communal life in the area. The Israeli government's travel advisory for the United States remains "safe to travel," but the repeat vandalism warrants caution....
