Jewish/Israeli symbols should be kept to a minimum
At an Aug. 29 fight-night event at downtown Orlando’s Kia Center, a fighter directed an antisemitic slur at his Jewish opponent while spectators displayed a swastika flag and made Nazi salutes; fights also broke out in the crowd. The flag was removed and officials condemned the conduct. This was a serious incident at a public venue, but the reports reviewed describe one event, not a pattern of separate recent attacks. Travelers may wish to stay alert at large combat-sports events and notify venue security if hate symbols or harassment appear....
