No antisemitic incidents have been reported in Sofia itself in the past 30 days, and the Israeli government maintains a 'safe to travel' advisory for Bulgaria. The city has, however, seen recurring tensions over the past year: the controversial Lukov March honouring a pro-Nazi figure was held in February 2026 despite opposition from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and the Jewish community; bomb threats at a school and the Sofia Court House in April 2026 led to evacuations and heightened security; a march protesting Israeli military action was held in June 2026; and in March 2026 Bulgaria increased security at airports and at sites linked to Israeli and American interests. Elsewhere in the country, in August 2026 a group of neo-Nazis attempted to force their way into a hotel in Bansko where Italian Jewish teenagers were staying; the Foreign Ministry condemned the incident, the Interior Ministry reported it did not escalate into physical violence, and the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria 'Shalom' called for a separate investigation into its racist and antisemitic aspects....
