In the past year, Birmingham has experienced several antisemitic incidents, including a significant rise in hate crimes and a terrorist attack at a Manchester synagogue. In May 2026, four individuals were arrested on suspicion of plotting against the Jewish community in Birmingham. In response, West Midlands Police have increased patrols around Jewish sites during the High Holy Days. Despite these measures, the Jewish community has expressed concerns over the handling of certain events, such as the ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending a match against Aston Villa.
