In July 2026 Salford witnessed a series of antisemitic incidents targeting the Jewish community. On July 20 three Jewish individuals sustained injuries from a BB gun attack on Leicester Road, which police treated as a hate crime and for which two suspects were arrested on suspicion of religiously aggravated common assault. On July 26 several vehicles belonging to Haredi residents were vandalized during Shabbat, with windows extensively damaged. These events have led to increased security measures in Jewish neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester, and form part of a broader rise in antisemitic incidents across the UK, up 21% in the first half of 2026 compared with the previous year. The UK government has announced a 250 million pound investment over the next three years to bolster protection for Jewish communities, including deploying over 500 additional officers in areas with significant Jewish populations. The Israeli government's travel advisory for the UK remains 'be cautious when traveling,' and travelers should exercise heightened vigilance....
