These events contribute to a broader trend of rising antisemitism in Spain, with a 14.5% increase in reported incidents in 2025 compared to the previous year. The Spanish government has acknowledged this rise, with the Interior Ministry documenting 69 hate crimes targeting Jews in 2025, up from 37 in 2024. Given these developments, the Israeli government has issued a travel advisory for Spain, advising travelers to exercise increased caution. Jew in Barcelona here. It's not unsafe, it's just very infuriating... I don't openly say I'm Jewish as much anymore until I get to know people a little bit but honestly I never felt any kind of danger.
